How do I find out if my child is eligible for Early Intervention or Early Childhood Special Education Services?
If you have concerns or suspect delays in your child’s development, you can request an educational evaluation, provided by the GSL school district at no direct cost to your family. You may contact GSL ECSE staff directly by email at: firstname.lastname@example.org. You may also contact Help Me Grow by calling 1-866-693-GROW (4769) or by making an online referral.
What if my child qualifies for special services?
After a child receives a formal evaluation to identify her/his specific needs, GSL ESCE teachers and specialists will work with the parents and child. From birth through age two years, these Special Education services are delivered to the child primarily in his/her home or child care center. From age three years to kindergarten, children generally receive these services at the GSL Early Childhood Learning Center.
Early Intervention is a Glencoe-Silver Lake Public Schools program for families with children ages birth through two years. Early Intervention provides support and instruction for young children who have been identified with a developmental delay, disability or are at risk for developing delays. Children and their families can receive services at their home, child care setting, or the Early Childhood Learning Center.
Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) is a Glencoe-Silver Lake Public Schools program for children ages three to five years. ECSE provides support and instruction for young children with delays in their development or with a disability. Children and their families can receive services at their home, child care setting, or the Early Childhood Learning Center.
