The Glencoe Silver Lake Supermileage team is made of 9-12 grade students from GSL. For 2017 the team is building two new cars to be entered in the stock and electric divisions. The two previous vehilces will be entered in E-85 and Modified divisions. The Orange Crush has been retired and can be seen hanging from the ceiling in room 340 in GSL High School.
20012-13 was Glencoe Silver Lake's first entry into the MTEEA Supermileage Challenge. The team brought their project to Brainerd International Raceway in May 2013 to participate. Our team earned a 164 MPG rating.
The 2013-14 team brought two cars to the MTEEA Supermileage Challenge. The Orange car was in modified and achieved 425 miles per gallon.The new Blue car was in the stock division and acheived 249 miles per gallon.
The 2014-15 team added another vehicle to the fleet. Twenty students designed and built an E-85 vehicle They were able to achieve 125 mpg. The Orange car was in modified and achieved 456 miles per gallon. This earned the team a second place finish. The car was piloted by Martin Mallak. The Blue car was in the stock division and acheived 253 miles per gallon. Michaela Neyers drove the car during that school record in stock division.
The 2015-16 team converted the blue vehicle from stock to Electric.They made changes to the Orange Crush that pushed that vehicle to a school record 614 mpg, The car was driven by Martin Mallak and finished with a third place finish. The E-85 vehicle, Pink Cadillac, reached 200 mpg which was also goo enough for a third place finish.
