Although K-12 has moved to a distance learning model as of Nov. 16, 2020, GSL School Readiness Preschool and ECFE will continue to hold in-person classes as long as we are able to do so safely, following guidance from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and the GSL District. We will notify families of any changes to Early Childhood programming via email or phone as soon as any decisions related to quarantine or closure are made.

GSL School Readiness Preschool
Preschool serves as an introduction to the school experience. By exposing students to a comfortable and inspiring classroom environment, students are eager to continue to learn and grow in kindergarten and beyond. Glencoe-Silver Lake School District provides high-quality preschool programming through the School Readiness Preschool program.
GSL School Readiness (SR) Preschool offers 2-day (Cubs) and 3-day (Pre-K Panthers) per week sessions.
Morning classes run from 8:30-11:00 a.m.
Afternoon classes run from 12:00-2:30 p.m.
Cubs (3 years by Sept. 1)
This class emphasizes the development of social skills and emotional growth through interaction with classmates and teachers. Through independent exploration, structured activities, and hands-on learning, children develop a variety of skills and knowledge in areas like early literacy, mathematics, science, and social skills. We also focus on the development of fine motor and listening skills through various play-based activities.
Pre-K Panthers (4 years by Sept. 1)
8:30-11:00 a.m. OR 12:00-2:30 p.m.
This class helps establish a positive attitude and comfort level in a school setting while creating excitement toward exploring and learning. We provide hands-on opportunities for creative expression through art, games, stories, cooking, science experiments, and music. We promote initial academic development and socialization skills through pre-reading, math, literature, writing, and science.
